The Rosemary District- Downtown Sarasota

We’ve all heard of Sarasota’s ‘Rosemary District’, but what is it? And, why is it so popular? I decided to do a little research and check it out myself, on foot. So, here is your guide to experiencing The Rosemary District. The Rosemary District is the area within the parameters of N. Tamiami, 10th St., N. Orange Ave., and Fruitville Rd. Located North of downtown Sarasota, just a walk from the Sarasota Bay. What’s better than the cultural vibe of a downtown atmosphere paired with only being a walk away from the coastal relaxation by the water?

All About Bayfront Park and Marina

Bayfront Park is bright yet shady; you can feel the warmth of the sun, but find a breezy shade among the mature trees. It is high energy yet peaceful; you can sense the outgoing vibe of the socials and hear kids running around, but you can find peace within the sounds and scenes of the bay. It is busy yet idle; many come to exercise and socialize, but you can always seek solitude in a hammock sprawled between two trees.

Bayfront Park and Marina is located off of Bayfront Drive across from Ringling Blvd. Situated on the Sarasota Bay, just minutes from downtown. My family and I find ourselves here probably once a month enjoying a leisurely walk or picnic lunch as a way to get outside and put all else aside but…

"Doc" Ernest and Eloise Werlin Park

Also known as Ringling Bridge Causeway Park, because its just next to/ under the Ringling Bridge! This park is made up of 12 acres and is a beautiful spot year-round. It’s always a great day to visit this year-round park since you’re guaranteed a salty breeze, sunny sky, and tropical palm trees lining the park. And if you need a break from the sun, make your way under the bridge and enjoy the shady breeze. There’s plenty to do at this park to enjoy a day outside.

Sarasota's Nathan Benderson Park

Nathan Benderson Park is located on Cattlemen Rd. between Fruitville and University Blvd. This park totals 600-acres with 400 of those acres making up the large lake. NBP is most well known for its rowing competitions, water activities, and exercise path around the lake. NBP is home to a variety of events throughout the year from 5-10k’s, yoga on the lawn, and many seasonal activities. This public park is one of Sarasota’s hotspots. Check out the covered playground for the kids overlooking the lake, plenty of parking, restrooms, and a covered pavilion. It also resides right by UTC mall, making it convenient for grabbing a bite to eat or running errands.
