Sarasota's Nathan Benderson Park

Nathan Benderson Park is located on Cattlemen Rd. between Fruitville and University Blvd. This park totals 600-acres with 400 of those acres making up the large lake. NBP is most well known for its rowing competitions, water activities, and exercise path around the lake. NBP is home to a variety of events throughout the year from 5-10k’s, yoga on the lawn, and many seasonal activities. This public park is one of Sarasota’s hotspots. Check out the covered playground for the kids overlooking the lake, plenty of parking, restrooms, and a covered pavilion. It also resides right by UTC mall, making it convenient for grabbing a bite to eat or running errands.

Nathan Benderson Park History

Sarasota County purchased the land, now known as Nathan Benderson Park in the early 1900s. The Park was named after the Benderson Family who donated $1 million to Sarasota County to create a place for local residents to enjoy being outside. NBP is managed by the Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates Inc. (SANCA). Nathan Benderson has transformed into a premiere rowing facility and community gem for exercising, events, and adventuring.
