McCurdy’s
McCurdy’s Comedy Theater can be found right in historic downtown Sarasota’s East End. McCurdy’s is home to a 4200 square foot showroom that features a variety of comedy shows nearly every day. McCurdy’s is also dedicated to teaching people the art of comedy and frequently hosts seminars, boot camps, and open mic nights for aspiring comedians. The Green Room at McCurdy’s has got you covered if you need refreshments with food and drinks offered both before and after the shows. If you’re looking for some laughs, this 18-and-up venue is great for a fun date night or a night out with friends.
Sarasota Opera House
The historic Sarasota Opera House is located right in the heart of downtown Sarasota. The building was constructed in 1926 and offers weekly tours for history enthusiasts. At the Opera House, you can watch operas from a variety of composers being performed, but their main claim to fame is being the only opera company in the world to have performed all of Giuseppe Verdi’s music. This cultural asset is also home to a Youth Opera and summer camps suited for younger opera enthusiasts.
Ringling Bridge
The almost 100-year-old John Ringling Causeway Bridge, also known as the Ringling Bridge, is an iconic landmark of Sarasota. Built in 1926, the Ringling Bridge spans from downtown Sarasota to St. Armand’s Key and Lido’s Key. At more than 3,097 feet long, you can drive, walk, or bike across this impressive structure. With places to fish and enjoy the views of Sarasota Bay, the Ringling Bridge is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon outdoors with family and friends.
