Love to golf? Love Palmer Ranch? I’d like to share with you the three golf course communities currently located within Palmer Ranch. Every community has its pros and cons, but unfortunately many don’t’ truly learn about a community until they become residents within it. In today’s blog, I’ll give you the facts, but I’ll also share some insider information on each of these three communities.

Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club on Palmer Ranch

Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club on Palmer Ranch, located within Palmer Ranch (Central Sarasota Parkway and Mcintosh), is a golf community. Stoneybrook was built in the mid 1990’s and offers single family homes and condominiums. This gated and maintenance free community offers amenities to its residents. Amenities include a 20,000 square foot clubhouse, club restaurant, har-tru tennis courts, community swimming pools, fitness center, and golf.

Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club has an 18-hole Arthur Hill designed golf course. This is a private course for members only. Golf membership is required for the majority of residencies in this community. Golf membership is also transferable to tenants renting a unit.

I’ve personally worked with a handful of clients in Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club. I find this community to be very affordable for someone who is looking to live in a golfing community under $300k. Many of the residents in Stoneybrook are seasonal; which makes this community thrive in the winter and spring, as well as, calm down to a very quiet summer residence. Rentals are very popular during season as well, and often book around a year in advance. Stoneybrook is not as grand compared to TPC Prestancia and The Oaks, but it provides a nice, traditional, country club feel at reasonable rates.

Prestancia on Palmer Ranch

Prestancia, located within Palmer Ranch (off Sarasota Square Blvd.), is a large community made up of many neighborhoods. Within Prestancia, you can find 14 different neighborhoods. Prestancia was built over 14 years from 1988 to 2002. The neighborhoods have both single-family homes and condominiums. The Prestancia neighborhoods are: Escondito - La Vista - Las Palmas - Losillias - Mara Villa - Monte Verde - Palacio - The Enclave - The Manors - Valencia - Villa D’Este - Villa Fiore - Villa Mirada - Villa Palmeras. This gated and maintenance free community houses TPC Prestancia, a non-equity club run by Heritage Golf Group. This includes a 35,000 square foot clubhouse with a golf pro shop, dining room and bar, and locker rooms. TPC Prestancia also includes a social club, and private club dining.

TPC Prestancia has TWO golf courses and has hosted 8 Chrysler Cup Tournaments and 5 American Express Invitational Championships. The Championship Stadium Course is an 18 hole, par 72 course with 6,941 yards. The course features great spectator views and was designed by Ron Garl. The Players Course designed by Robert Von Hagge, is known to be more challenging. The Players Course is also an 18 hole course. Both courses have 12 tee options, in addition to walking at any time. TPC Prestancia is 1 of 3 courses in the Sarasota area to be an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary; so be prepared to enjoy the wildlife and natural settings. TPC Prestancia is a private club. Membership is not required for residents of Prestancia. However, anyone can join this private club.

One of the things I love about Prestancia is that anyone can join TPC Prestancia. Also, residents themselves are not required to join. TPC Prestancia is a great option for someone who wants access to a golf and country club, but may even want to live in a different community within Palmer Ranch or the surrounding areas. One main draw to TPC Prestancia is that membership to the club also offers members access to any of their 250 clubs around the world.

The Oaks on Palmer Ranch

The Oaks on Palmer Ranch located within Palmer Ranch (off of 41, south of Mcintosh), and is a community made up of four subdivisions. The subdivisions are The Oaks Clubside, Oaks Bayside, Oaks Preserve, and The Meridian. This gated and maintenance free community is made up of single-family homes and condominiums. Within The Oaks is The Oaks Club, a member only golf and country club where membership is required for residents. The Oaks Club offers a fitness facility, tennis center, croquet, a social club, dining, and golf.

The Oaks Club features TWO 18-hole golf courses.  The Eagle and The Heron are the two courses. They are playable for all golfers, but also provide a challenge. Both courses have 8 tee alternatives. The Eagle Golf Course yardage ranges from 4,426 to 7,003 and has turf throughout. The Eagle was designed by Arthur Hills. The Heron Golf Course yardage ranges from 4,196 to 6,695. The Heron was designed by William Byrd, but has since been renovated by Hurdzan Fry Environmental Golf Course Design in 2015. The Oaks Club is a private equity club, for members only. Membership to the Oaks club is required for all residents.

The Oaks is a very prestigious community. Homes within the community are large and stunning, but this neighborhood is not for everyone. The Oaks draws a demographic of around the late 50’s and up. There is a very high initiation fee for membership to the Oaks Club, which is required, this can make it difficult to sell a home as there may be a smaller population of able buyers. However, The Oaks Club is incredibly grand, prestigious, and beautiful. It is even named a Distinguished Emerald Club, placing it in the top 4% of clubs worldwide!
